Woodlot licences are small scale Crown forest tenures managed by individuals, family businesses and First Nations.
In the South Island Natural Resource District, there are 28 woodlot licences managed by: First Nations(50%), individuals(25%), family-owned businesses(21%), and educational institutions(4%). We, as woodlot licensees, are your neighbours
Woodlot licensees in British Columbia manage less than 2% of the provincial land base, and many are located in the urban interface of our communities and outside our back yards.
