A WL licensee should be aware of and knowledgeable about any species at risk in or around their WL.  A species at risk may be a plant, animal or ecological community and may fall under federal or provincial legislation.

Blue and red listed species lists are subject to change with new protection measures established or removed.

 

Provincial (BC) Species at Risk

FRPA, specifically WLPPR sections 9(2)(b) and 9(3), require a WL licensee to act in a manner consistent with the objective(s) stated for the survival of a species at risk, provided the minister responsible for the Wildlife Act notifies the WL licensee of the species and indicators of the amount, distribution and attributes of necessary habitat.
