Dorothy’s Tree
My name is Will Wardwell. Me and my family hold Woodlot #1564 at Harrogate, south of Golden. This tree is on the adjacent Woodlot #1563 held by Paul Frasca and Mark Dascher. It may not be huge by some standards but it’s the biggest tree in the vicinity of our home and my wife Dorothy would visit it on foot, horse or skis .When Mark and Paul acquired that woodlot, Dorothy told them she would chain herself to it if they tried to cut it down. When they did set out a cutblock in that area they left Dorothy’s Tree and some trees around it even though she had recently passed away. This photo shows 3 generations of Wardwells – Me, my son Jaro and grandson Reid.”
