BC Political Parties Respond to Natural Resource Questions

In the last provincial election, approximately 60% of the eligible voters participated. As part of supporting woodlotters, we at Woodlots BC have been working with like minded people to understand how the next government will be focusing on in policies.

In September 2024, questions were sent to the 3 political parties running in this year’s BC Provincial Election. The Natural Resource Coalition which is a group that has been discussing the state of natural resources in British Columbia wrote to each one of BC’s leading political parties to ask key questions about their support for the resource sector.

The group had two primary questions:

  • Will you, as party leader, work to renew the natural resource sector?
  • Will you ensure local communities and business are not unfairly burdened with the cost of reconciliation?

Based on their responses, it is clear that each party takes a different approach.

If you are interested, we encourage you to review each of the parties’ responses in full and to consider the resource sector and the essential role we play in supporting the services upon which you and your family depend. It is important to get out there and vote!
